We have adopted the Kink Education Code of Conduct (KECC) and hold ourselves to its standards. As educators following the KECC, we are required to disclose: “Any consent incidents we have caused or been accused of, any injuries we have caused or been accused of, any accountability processes we have been the focus of, & any sanctions or exclusions from any kink organization or group.”
Lovely Darkness has no disclosures to share & NawaDan has experienced causing 3 separate nerve injuries, of which all resolved after a short period of time but otherwise has no further disclosures to share. Feel free to reach out and ask us for additional details and about any of our additional experiences of things going wrong in rope (where injury didn’t occur), what we learned, and how that impacts how we currently tie and teach rope.
Additionally, we recognize that by being in a position of power as educators, it may be a challenge to approach us directly if you feel we could be doing things better. We currently have a google form that can be filled out anonymously (or not) to give us feedback on how we are doing in our teaching. We want to be constantly improving and your feedback is an essential component of that.
As instructors we also will not initiate play or relationships with students in our cell-based intensive rope series that are not already pre-existing partners. After completion of the series play or a relationship may occur only after a careful discussion about the power imbalances of the student teacher relationship and how that might impact play or a relationship between those individuals.
For those who attend our Tuesday night rope classes, new play or relationships will not be initiated during class by the instructors with those that are not already pre-existing partners. Play or a relationship may occur between individuals who have attended class and the instructors only after a careful discussion about the power imbalances of the student teacher relationship and how that might impact play or a relationship between those individuals.
